Meghan, Duchess of Sussex at the Variety Power of Women Los Angeles presented by Lifetime at Mother Wolf

The Duchess of Sussex made asurprise appearancein Los Angeles on Thursday night atVariety’s Power of Women event. Chatting with the outlet’ssenior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson on the red carpet, Meghan was asked about what’s next when it comes to her andPrince Harry’s projects in the entertainment sphere.

“Things that make people feel…I was gonna say good, but it’s more than that. Things that make peoplefeelsomething,right?” Meghan, 42, said. “And feel a sense of community. But we have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them. We’re just really proud of what we’re creating, and my husband is loving it too.”

After stepping back from their senior roles in the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed amulti-year dealwith Netflix in September 2020.The New York Timesreported at the time that their production hub, later dubbed Archewell Productions, would exclusively create documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming for the platform.

In aninterviewwithVarietytied to her Women of Power honor last year, Meghan addressed what audiences could expect from the show.

“It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it,” Meghan said. “But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”

“It’s interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before,” she continued, referencing the entertainment business. “For me, having worked onSuits, it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun.”

Just a few weeks afterHarry and Meghanhit screens, the documentary seriesLive to Leadpremiered, which Harry and Meghan helped produce. The couple did not appear in the show, which highlighted leaders and activists such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg and Gloria Steinem.

Last year, Netflixcanceled developmenton Meghan’s showPearl, which was described as an animated series following a girl’s “heroic adventure as she learns to step into her power and finds inspiration from influential women throughout history.”

Although Meghan stayed mum on specifics of future projects, author Carley Fortune confirmed in August toThe Independentthat the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions hub isadaptingher romance novelMeet Me at the Lakefor Netflix.

Meghan’s work as an actress onSuitsis also finding a new life on Netflix. Since the show debuted on the streaming service, it’s gained a new audience andbroken records. Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan starred as Rachel Zane in the legal drama, which originally aired on the USA Network between 2011 and 2019,

Asked about the newfound popularity of the show on the red carpet, Meghan said she had “no idea” why there was such a resurgence.

“It was great to work on. Such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time,” she said. “I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch so many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. Good shows are everlasting.”
