On June 11 , YouTube drug user Terry Tufferson uploaded a TV showing a man jump off of the Manly drop into Sydney Harbor with a GoPro photographic camera strapped to his nous . Right after resurface in the water system , a champion points out the bearing of a great white shark channelise the right way toward him .
First , permit ’s take a look at the video :
Was anyone else disappoint that the cat did n’t really fight off the shark at all ? I execrate when mass relentlessly paint shark as criminal maneaters , but given that the video ’s title was “ GoPro : Man Fights Off bully White Shark In Sydney Harbour , ” I expected a little more literal fundamental interaction .

Here ’s a rundown of the clues that this video might not be all it claims to be :
While sharks are from time to time spotted in that area , large one like the one shown in the video are fairly uncommon . While uncommon does n’t mean it is impossible that a shark like that could have shown up , it is just one too many strikes against the genuineness of the video .
The picture was uploaded at a resolution of 480p . This is the lowest potential stage setting for a GoPro and would make some facet of video editing , such as CGI , backbreaking to detect . Some are claiming this was done intentionally .

However , it is n’t potential that the shark is a CGI effect anyway . It seems much more likely that the shark footage was obtained separately and the scenes were stitched together . The direction in which the friend is pointing does n’t on the button match up with where the shark really appears second later . certainly , sharks are moderately tight with top speeds of 35 mph , but it is unlikely that a prominent shark would hale ass through a harbor like that and not eat up the craze , flailing swimmer . Besides , when we see the shark , it does n’t look like it ’s stalking target anyway . It looks jolly relaxed .
Another clue that this footage is n’t genuine is the teleportation of the shark around 59 seconds into the video .
Just as a headland up , here ’s what you ’re looking at :
And yet a second after , you see the shark skip over over here :
