John Candy’s Kids Remember Late Actor on 30th Anniversary of His Death: ‘Miss You and Love You Always’

John Candy’s kids are paying tribute to their dad three decades after his death.

On Monday,Jennifer Candy-Sullivanposted a sweetthrowback family photoof herself with her late father and younger brotherChris Candy, posing with John outdoors.

“30 years ago today … feels like both a lifetime with and without you,” wrote Jennifer, 44. “Miss you and love you always ❤️#johncandy.”

Chris, 39, shared a snapshot of theUncle Buckactor in a multicolored Hawaiian-print shirt, smiling for the camera under a ray of sunlight.

“All my love to my father today.#johncandy,” Chris wrote inthe photo’s caption.

“John’s comedy lives on, but my memory of him has the words ‘kindness’ and ‘sweetness’ in the headlines,” Candy’sPlanes, Trains and AutomobilescostarSteve Martintold PEOPLE.

While theSplashactor loved making those around him crack up, he also appreciated hearing some good humor, too.

“When you were with John, he did something very few brilliantly funny and famous people do: He laughed at other people’s jokes,” saidJon Turteltaub, who directed Candy in the 1993 sports comedyCool Runnings.

Added Turteltaub, 60, of the late star, “That’s actually a big deal. He made people feel welcome. He made people feel wanted.”

Chris and Jen previously honored their late father last year on the29th anniversary of his death, with photo tributes on social media.

“You will always be around ❤️ You will always be missed ❤️ You will always be loved ❤️,” Jen captionedan adorable photofrom her childhood, smiling in the kitchen with her dad.

PEOPLE confirmed in October 2022 that the Candy family is working with Canadian countrymanRyan ReynoldsandColin Hankson a documentary about the actor and comedian’s legacy, through Reynolds' Maximum Effort production company.

“The Candy family is giving Maximum Effortaccess to his archive and home video footage,” a rep for Reynolds told PEOPLE at the time.
