If you bang both science and artistry , Twitter was a wonderful situation to be last week .
SciArt week , which officially run from March 1st through the 7th , was initiated by Symbiartic bloggers Glendon Mellow , Kalliopi Monoyios and Katie McKissick , whoencouragedscience artists of all stripes to tantalize together and tweet their work to the world . The result was an flood of scientific illustration , paintings , sculptures and liveliness , the ilk of which the cyberspace has never look .
When I extend to out to Mellow for details , he explain that he and his fellow bloggers have been writing about skill - inspired art their Scientific American web log for almost four years , and felt a responsibility to apportion the diverse piece of work of the many science artist they experience .

“ A duo of twelvemonth ago , we ramped up ourSymbiartic SciArt Twitter List , ” Mellow said . “ I want to be capable to charge to a single , flexible place and say , ‘ Here are the science artist : look through these the great unwashed and adjoin someone to make visuals for your workplace . ’
But it was n’t enough . The Tweet Storm idea came about because I wanted a way to get those 450 + artist right into the feed of citizenry who love science . My Symbiartic co - blogger , Katie , Kalliopi and I , formed our plan . We figured volume , retweeting and abbreviated instructions would be primal . ”
plainly , their intuition was spot on . While the original goal was to get roughly 1,600 tweets a day feature science - related art of all variety , within the first 24 hours the Symbiartic post explain # SciArt week , there were over 4,000 .
