A Gizmodo lector is claiming that his iPhone get what Apple support said “ sounds like a virus . ” Last dark he get wind a received SMS halo but there was none . Instead , the iPhone ’s date was replaced by the text “ Player Haters ( red alerting ) . ” Since thefirst extraneous appwas hoard this hebdomad , it ’s hard to think . There are other explanation .

UPDATE 3:30EST : really , there ’s a very simple explanation : it was a software bug or a human error . That ’s a bloody song title , which apparently got beat on the interface and only was sack up after a ability cycle . Bad Apple support unfit ! for saying silly things like that and bad me bad ! for reporting them , no matter how skeptically . Thanks to the readers who point this out .

It could be some kind of weird Easter Egg that was triggered by something else . Or perhaps it is a debug message that was exit in the system inadvertently by Apple engineers . We only know one matter for certain : if it really is a “ computer virus ” or some outside computer code , then Apple did an exceedingly poor occupation on iPhone ’s security – which , quite frankly , I find knockout to believe .
We ask the proofreader for a picture , but he say it did n’t pass to him at the metre and , after following Apple ’s centering on the phone and doing a exponent round , the string was run and the date was back to normal . He also say that “ Apple secernate me to keep them post if I noticed any other modification to the operating system ” and points out that “ it is subtle , being just below the time on the unlock silver screen , so it is possible some people might not observe it right forth . ”
Have you go steady anything like this ? If yes , cut down us a line and a photo . [ Thanks Simon ! ]
