Drones are ubiquitous on today ’s modern battlefields , from Iraq to Afghanistan and everywhere in between . Automated , gear - lugging golf game go-cart ? Not so much . That ’s about to shift though , thanks to a little guy name GUSS .
GUSS , short for Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate , is a short ambit hauler kin toBigDog , but without the terrific night terror .

Also like BigDog , GUSS is control remotely ( in this case by a system call WaySight ) . Using its assemblage of detector and computer algorithms , GUSS can track all sort of terrain in the daylight , night and even inclement weather .
And even though GUSS is golf game cart - esque , it ’s more than able of moving 1,800 pound . of supplies in the orbit . Top speed is only 5 mph , so the injured troop transport capability also being billed alongside this cart is a morsel dubious .
A prototype for now , the GUSS could see religious service by 2015 , when 30 % of the U.S. military is set to be unmanned . [ TorcTechviaCNET ]
