One hundred years ago , on June 4th , 1913 , Emily Wilding Davison fatally give herself in front of King George V ’s horse at the Epsom Derby in England . She died four day after from severe injuries but was immortalized as an external sufferer by her fellow Suffragettes . However , as we pass its centennial day of remembrance this class , it ’s not just the movement we call up but also the mode woman defend their drive – and still do – through art .

While Davison lost her life before the Billie Jean King ’s foot those 100 years ago , she breathed unexampled aliveness into the suffrage bm , as many sign Davis ’ widely - circulate death as a turning point in the movement .
