One of the most important find made by Hubble has just got a altogether new look . Two external squad of astronomers have used the Atacama Large Millimeter / submillimeter Array ( ALMA ) to take a deeper   flavor at one of the farthest regions we ’ve ever discovered , theHubble Ultra Deep Field(HUDF ) .

The Ultra Deep Field was first observed in 2004 and have some of the most distant galaxies ever observe . It has since been repeatedly keep by telescopes include Hubble   many time , and is the recondite view of the universe to date .

ALMAcomplements the Hubble data by provide data about the statistical distribution of gasoline and dust around these very young galaxies . To do this ALMA , has conducted an extensive reflection of the HUDF –   50 hour of telescope metre – which is more time than ALMA has spent on any other single region .

There are several results from this latest observation , and they are published in a series ofeight papersthat will appear in the Astrophysical Journal and Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society .

The astronomers chance confirmation that , in the other universe , the best way to prognosticate if a coltsfoot is forming a lot of stars is to look at its passel . The warm gas detected by ALMA is a good proxy for star - organization natural process , and the team saw almost many of   the very massive galaxies already seen by Hubble . There ’s a clear contact between the two .

“ This is a breakthrough outcome . For the first time we are decently connecting the visible and ultraviolet tripping opinion of the distant universe from Hubble and far - infrared / millimetre purview of the universe from ALMA , ” say Jim Dunlop , from the University of Edinburgh and lead author of one of the paper , in astatement .

The Hubble Ultra Deep Field with the ALMA detection of the most massive galaxies circle .   ALMA ( ESO / NAOJ / NRAO)/NASA / ESA / J. Dunlop et al .   and S. Beckwith   and the HUDF Team .

A   2nd squad worked on a small surface area of the Ultra Deep Field but look much deeper into the universe . Thanks to this approach they discovered a population of galaxies that had n’t been see before , and the observations aid them produce a 3D map of the distribution of gas in the remote cosmea .

“ The raw ALMA solution imply a rapidly rising gas message in galaxies as we bet back further in clip , ” said   squad co - drawing card Manuel Aravena from the Diego Portales University in Chile in the instruction .

“ This increase gasoline content is likely the source cause for the remarkable increase in star organisation rate during the peak epoch of galaxy formation , some 10 billion years ago . ”

These results are just the beginning of more planned reflection in the region . A new observing campaign of the Ultra Deep Field lasting 150 hours is already being planned , which   will let   an even deep look into the dawn of the existence .
