With all the low-cal pollution that most of us encounter on a nightly groundwork , it can be easy to forget why we call our galaxy “ The Milky Way . ”
as luck would have it for us , there are photographers like Anton Jankovoy who trek to distant region of Nepal at ALT of 8,000 meters to capture images like the one show here .
Bad Astronomy ’s Phil Plait helps explain why this postal service is chase as both space porn and geophysical porno :

[ Jankovoy ] took [ the photo ] in Annapurna , a region of Nepal that has been uplift as a whole piece ( address a massif ) and reach elevation of over 8000 meters … At 8000 beat , the pressure deteriorate to just 1/3 of that at sea level , and the air is so flimsy it ’s hard to imagine really hiking there . But clearly , people do .
And evaluate from Anton ’s picture , it may very well be worth the problem of visiting . What must it be like to bear in that spot and see first hand such astronomical and geologic magnificence ?
