Three multimillion dollar homes in Southern California are precariously positioned atop an oceanside cliff following the recent rainy weather which caused a landslide, but city officials and at least one homeowner say the houses are safe.
“It’s not threatened, it will not be red-tagged.” Bruggeman said. “The city agrees that there’s no major structural issue with the house.”

Dana Point Mayor Jamey Federico agreed that the home has “no imminent threat.”
“Engineers who already surveyed the home said there was no damage and there is no imminent threat to the structure, which is really good news,” Federicotold theLos Angeles Times. “So quite frankly, it looks a lot scarier than it really is.”
Dana Point city officials, including the city’s geotechnical engineer, visited the residences after the landslide, per KCAL.
“Currently the city has confirmed that there is no imminent threat to that home,” city manager Mike Killebrew toldThe Orange County Register, about an A-framed house whose deck now dramatically juts out from the bluff.
However, Killebrew requested that the homeowner get an independent engineering evaluation as well.
“The house is built on caissons anchored to the bedrock,” he said. “Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend the property owner contract for an updated assessment.”
